Homemade Root Beer

Hello my pretties!! Here is a little concoction that will add excitement to any Halloween party you might be attending this year!

Homemade Root Beer

Submitted by Amy ~ The Sisters Cafe

5 gallons cold water (also equal to 80 cups)
5 pounds white sugar
1 (2-ounce) bottle root beer concentrate (you can buy it in the spice section of most stores)
5 pounds dry ice

Place 4 gallons of the cold water in a large container. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Pour in root beer extract and mix. Add the dry ice and put the lid on loosely so the gas can escape. Be sure that no one touches the dry ice with bare hands. It can freezer-burn skin in less than 5 seconds. Let it brew for about 15 minutes. Add the last gallon of water and let brew for another 15 minutes. Serves about 30 thirsty people who come back for seconds and thirds. You can also cut the recipe in half to serve about 15. If you want to really keep that dry ice going for a long time, I would recommend buying even more than 5 lbs! Also, for added effect, freeze plastic spider rings in ice cubes and serve with root beer. Happy Haunting!

  9. Does this method get fizzy? I want to make it but the ones I have seen say to put it in a 10 gallon container with a lid which is hard to find but I do have a big old witches caulderon. Thanks for the info!
