Triple Layer Rice Krispies
submitted by Brittany
1.5 Tb butter
20 large marshmallows
1/3 c peanut butter
3 c rice krispies cereal
Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Stir in peanut butter and remove from heat. Add rice krispies and stir until well coated. With buttered fingers, press into buttered 9x13 pan.
Chocolate layer:
1.5 Tb butter
20 large marshmallows
1/2 c milk chocolate chips
3 c rice krispies cereal
Follow instructions under pb layer - substituting peanut butter with chocolate chips! Press chocolate layer evenly on top of pb layer.
Original layer:
1.5 Tb butter
20 large marshmallows
3 c rice krispies cereal
Follow same instructions, skipping adding anything at end. Press original layer on top of chocolate layer. At this point, you can spread melted chocolate on top... I didn't because I can only imagine the mess little fingers would make with that! Either way, this recipe really is a treat!!
These sound good with peanut butter and chocolate! What a delicious twist you put on them.
ReplyDeleteWow Britt--those look soo good! I think I will make them for our Family HOme Evening treat tonight!
ReplyDeleteTalk about taking rice crispy treats up a notch-those look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteExcuse my ignorance, but what is Tb butter? I know a T. butter, a t. butter and a stick of butter, but I don't know a Tb butter. I'm prolly gonna feel very dumb if you answer this.
ReplyDeleteBritt- those look yummy! I should make them for my young women on Tuesday. I love the funky plate. :) I really miss mine! (I dropped and shattered mine a few years ago, remember?)
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm here I'll just answer Billie's question - Tb is another abbreviation for Tablespoon. T. and Tb. both mean Tablespoon. Tb. isn't as common, so don't feel dumb! :)
I know the kids and the "BIG KID" would love these!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erin! It was just that 1.5 tablespoons didn't seem like enough.
ReplyDeleteWhat a yummy treat!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds yummy with peanut butter and chocolate! I can't wait to try it this weekend for Easter Basket goodies!
ReplyDeleteI always add vanilla to my plain RK Treats. It just adds another depth of flavor. Give it a try sometime!
ReplyDeleteThese were super yummy Britt!
ReplyDeleteOh man, these look delicious! I love the triple-layer effect. What a great way to spruce up a classic!
ReplyDeleteThese were really tasty, but the peanut butter layer would not stay attached to the other layers. Did I do something wrong? I thought I followed the recipe to a T. They still got gobbled up! Thanks :)
