A few Christmases ago, my mother-in-law made these cheeseballs for all her neighbors. It is actually my sister-in-law's (Melanie who posts atMy Kitchen Cafe) recipe, which she got from her in-laws. Whew! That seems like a convoluted mess of in-laws and relationships! :) Anyway, we kept and devoured a few of these cheeseballs ourselves over the Christmas break. Yum, yum! And of course I've made the recipe since, for baby showers and other get-togethers.
Anyway, the important thing is, IT'S REALLY GOOD. :) Oh, and it's also really easy. That's important, too. :)

Printable Recipe
4 (8-oz) squares of cream cheese, softened
1 Tbsp onion salt
1 Tbsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. dried parsley
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
chopped pecans
Set the cream cheese out on the counter well in advance, so it is soft and easy to mix.
Mix the cream cheese, onion salt, garlic salt, pepper, and parsley.
Then add the grated cheese. After it is mixed well, form into 4-5 balls and roll in chopped pecans.
All of the instructions aren't there, I think they are cut off???
ReplyDeleteHi Hilary&Evan,
ReplyDeleteOn my computer, I can see all the instructions. I'm not sure what could be going on, but since the instructions are so short, I'll just paste them here for you!

I love a good cheese ball! This sounds super :)
ReplyDeleteI love these cheese balls for Christmas... not sure why i don;t make them more often... DOE, they will be made this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe and ingredients for the cheeseball. It's a great crowd pleaser.
ReplyDeleteI made a few of these cheese balls to take to people this year. They are yummy! And cheese balls always seem so festive to me. I like this recipe, because it is all stuff I have on hand. Super easy. And I rolled them in sliced almonds because they were so much cheaper than pecans. Turned out fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say that although I really like the flavors of this cheeseball, it was quite a bit too salty for me. I notice that most of the store bought cheese balls are quite salty, but I prefer them less so. I ended up adding 16oz of cream cheese and a couple of extra cups of shredded cheese, as well as an additional 3/4 tsp pepper. It helped dilute the saltiness, but I think I will start with 1 tsp of each of the salts next time and then titrate up to my liking. Still a very good cheese ball and so convenient with ingredients that I always have on hand!
