1/2 cup red chili powder
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons coarse salt
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, mixing thoroughly. Press spice rub onto each side of the steaks, then grill immediately. Store left over rub in an air tight container in a cool, dry place for up to six months.
This is similar to a rub I do with chicken. I never thought of putting it on steaks. I will have to give yours a try! Thanks for the great idea :)
ReplyDeleteLooks simple and tasty. Have you tried it on chicken? Also, what cut of beef would you suggest?
ReplyDeleteDear Heather,
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried it on chicken, but I bet it would be good. I'll have to try it and let you know. We've only had it on ribeye steak, and it was wonderful. Let me know if you do anything different and how it goes.

oh yum - this looks great. I'm going to try it on some petit sirloin steaks I have!
ReplyDeleteI love rubs-this one sounds yummy and easy!!
ReplyDeleteWOW - this steak looks like it's grilled to perfection! and that rub sounds super delicious.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could change the "bowel" to a BOWL :) I was scrolling and the word bowel jumped out at me ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily! I changed it.
