This hot cocoa station sits on my kitchen counter and my boys and all their friends love it! Nothing beats a warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold winters day! The fact that is not as cold here in our first Tennessee winter has not really affected their hot cocoa habit much:) My boys like to top it with marshmellows and a peppermint candy! I have to admit that this is Steven's Hot Cocoa pictured, because I have a lot of it in my food storage room. But, to make your own, I wanted to share my Grandma's Hot Chocolate mix recipe with you. It is great...just like everything that sweet woman makes!
*Also a great gift idea to make with your kids for their friends:
put about a 1/2 cup in a sandwich bag sprinkle on chocolate chips and marshmellows (you could even throw in a peppermint ball or two) tie with a cute ribbon and a little Merry Christmas tag!
Grandma's Hot Chocolate Mix
2 cups powdered sugar
1 16oz containers of Nestles Quick
6oz Coffeemate
10 2/3 cups Powdered Milk
Mix and store. Use 3 Tbs to one cup water. Enjoy!
(This makes 17 cups mix)

Very cute idea. Where did you get the jars?
ReplyDeleteCute hot cocoa station, mel! You're boys have such a fun mom!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners! What a fun idea to have a hot cocoa station. I think I'll have to steal your idea! :)
ReplyDeletethank you so much Melanie Ann....
ReplyDeleteTrinette,
ReplyDeleteI got the jars at target, one of my favorite stores:) I think were$5.99, $4.99 and $3.99. They have them at Hobby Lobby too--but Target was actually a better cheaper. It is fun for my kids and I like to look at the jars on my counter:)
Merry Christmas!
Can you convert the measurements to cups and ounces? I was wondering if you really use 16 liters of powdered milk. Wouldn't that be more than four gallons of powdered milk?
ReplyDeleteGreat gift idea and congrats to the winners.
ReplyDeleteI found this recipe thanks to Pintrest. I've been on the look out for a recipe since Swiss Miss is getting too expensive. :) I just made a batch of the mix tonight ... YUM!!! Thanks for sharing your recipe.
ReplyDeleteI have a questions about the Coffee-mate. There are several flavors available, since you did not mention a particular one, would I be correct to assume that you are referring to the "original" flavor? If so, have you tried this with any of the other flavors? Some of them sound awesome!
